Hi, I’m Mara Gerke, CNHP

I’m an herbalist, health coach, and natural health professional. I’ve worked with hundreds of people to help them improve their overall health.

I asked myself one question, “What is one of the most important habits you can improve that would help you improve your overall health, increase your energy, and decrease your waistline? I understand what it takes; I have been a victim of the sugar monster.

My answer –
“Tame the Sugar Monster”!

Sugar Cravings

Sugar cravings are real, and beating them can be challenging. If you snack most of the day or feel you are addicted to food, it could be your body’s craving for sugar, and our Tame the Sugar Monster 5-Day Sugar Detox can help.

The truth is, many of us consume more sugar than we realize. Sugar is hidden in the labels of many processed foods. Salad dressings, condiments, pasta sauces, beverages, and even many of today’s so-called “health products” contain sugar. Many of us are eating way more sugar than we think we are, which is why it can be hard to curb sugar cravings.

Sugar Detox – Tame the Sugar Monster

Excess sugar consumption is linked to many of today’s chronic health concerns, including:

  • Heart Disease
  • Cancer
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Mood Disorders
  • Acne & skin issues
  • Liver stress
  • Cholesterol
  • Food addiction

When you detox from sugar, your entire body benefits. Your mood will improve. You will have more energy and less brain fog. Your skin will become more radiant. You will also have less inflammation, support a healthier immune system, and protect your liver. You will also most likely shed a few pounds!

Why do I have such intense cravings?

Various factors, including blood sugar imbalances, unhealthy eating habits, emotional triggers, and insufficient sleep, cause cravings.

Is it better to quit sugar cold turkey or to do it gradually?

I say go cold turkey. It’s an addiction like smoking, and it’s best to stop. Most smokers can’t succeed if they have an occasional cigarette.

Are sugar substitutes helpful or harmful?

Harmful. It is best to avoid sugar substitutes during your detox time because they can actually increase your cravings for sweets and sugar.

Is it okay to give in to a craving occasionally?

No, it is best to avoid sugar altogether in the detox, especially the first 5 days and for a complete 30 days to ensure it squelches those cravings.

Can cravings indicate that I’m missing essential nutrients?

Yes. Some people deficient in magnesium (especially if you crave chocolate), zinc (usually during PMS), or chromium (sweets in general) find it can lead to sugar cravings.

Does sugar withdrawal cause symptoms?

So yes, when you detox from sugar, it could be a little rough. Your body is craving it due to its addictive powers and the microbes you have been feeding in your gut. During your detox, you may experience temporary symptoms as you overcome your cravings. Symptoms could include:

  • Headaches, light-headedness, fatigue
  • Sleep issues, brain fog, extreme cravings
  • Mood swings, sadness, anxiety, and irritability

Doesn’t that sound like fun! Don’t worry – if you stick with it, the rewards will pay off!
