30-Day Gut Reset: What to Expect Week by Week
Is your digestion feeling off? If it is, you may be wondering if a 30-day gut reset could help you.
Or maybe you are one of the many who are dealing with bloating, irregular bowel habits, indigestion, low energy, cravings, or simply feeling like your eating habits have gotten off track. A 30-day gut reset is all about giving you time to slow down, pay attention to what you’re eating, and begin identifying foods and habits that may be affecting how you feel.
Many people wonder what a gut reset is all about, and it’s not about starving or drinking juice for days on end. It’s not even about a cleanse. It’s about reducing things that may be stressing your body while focusing on eating nourishing foods, supporting your digestion, and creating healthier habits to make sure you continue to feel better after the 30 days are over.
What Is a 30-Day Gut Reset?
A 30-day gut reset is about finding out how the foods you eat and your lifestyle habits may be influencing your digestive health.
You see, your gut doesn’t function independently from the rest of your body. It interacts with hydration, stress, sleep, movement, diet, medications, environment, and other factors.
That’s why I focus on a gut-first, whole-body approach rather than simply handing someone a list of foods to avoid.
My 30-Day Gut Reset follows four steps:
Remove → Replace → Restore → Rebalance
Each week builds on the one before it.
Week 1: Remove & Reset

The first week is about becoming familiar with all the things that are going on in your body and starting to reduce some of the things that may be working against you. This doesn’t mean you are going to be eliminating all the foods you eat that are supposed to be bad for your gut.
As you go through this exploration, think of it as an opportunity to simplify your diet, reduce common dietary stressors, and start paying attention to how different foods make you feel.
It’s a lot more than just the foods you are eating; it’s also about hydration, your bowel habits, how well you sleep, how you manage stress, your environment, and other lifestyle habits. Each area deserves a look.
What you may notice during Week 1
Week one is when you start becoming more aware of your habits. You might figure out that maybe you are not drinking as much water as you thought you were. Or maybe you are noticing that certain foods contribute to your digestive discomfort, or that stressful days make your digestive symptoms worse.
This week is all about awareness. You can’t begin to change something if you are not aware of it.
Week 2: Replace & Nourish
Once you have become aware and started reducing some of the things causing you discomfort, it’s time to focus on your diet and what you are going to eat instead. This is a big reason I don’t like to eliminate the same things for everyone. Healthy eating isn’t always about removing; it’s also about what you add.
This week is all about making a deliberate effort to eat more nourishing foods and focus on habits that support your digestion and overall health. This may look like eating a wider variety of whole foods and getting enough protein and fiber in your diet. You learn about prebiotics, probiotics, and cultured foods and how they fit into a gut-healthy diet.
The focus this week is on building meals with foods that nourish you rather than spending the entire 30 days talking about what you “can’t” eat.
Week 3: Restore & Strengthen
By the third week, you have had some time to see how your body is responding to the changes you are making. This is where the whole picture broadens, and you learn how your digestive system is influenced by stress, sleep, movement, hydration, your environment, and everyday routines.
This is a good time to ask yourself the following question:
What patterns am I beginning to notice?
Think about how your digestion acts differently under stress. Maybe you noticed that if you eat too fast, you become bloated. You might have even noticed that eating meals at regular times makes you feel better.
Maybe you start thinking about adding a wider variety of foods or some cultured foods or other habits that support your gut.
This week is really about connecting your gut with the rest of your lifestyle.
Week 4: Rebalance & Sustain

This may be the most important week of the entire reset and you are probably wondering why besides it being near the end.
This 30-day gut reset should have prepared you, so you know what to do on day 31 and more.
During this week, you are going to examine the changes you made and which ones are realistic enough for you to continue.
You are going to look at the foods that worked, which habits made the biggest difference, and what was easy to change and what you still need to work on.
You also need to focus on what foods or lifestyle habits are worth continuing to monitor.
The goal is to finish up with a better understanding of your own body and a healthier foundation you can build upon.
What Can You Expect to Feel During a 30-Day Gut Reset?
Everyone is very different, so there’s really no single result you should be expecting.
Some people may notice changes in bloating, digestive comfort, bowel regularity, energy, cravings, or how they feel after eating. Others may find that the biggest benefit is that they gained an understanding of certain patterns they never noticed before.
Thirty days can give you enough time to learn quite a bit about your habits, but it isn’t going to solve every digestive concern you have.
Gut health isn’t a 30-day project; it’s a starting point to help you learn and guide the habits you are going to build afterward.
What a Gut Reset Shouldn’t Be
A gut reset isn’t about starving yourself, surviving on liquids or juice, purchasing dozens of supplements, or starting to fear food. It’s also not about trying to convince you that one food is responsible for all of your health problems.
It’s about helping you understand that your digestive system is complex and that your needs may be different from someone else’s. You may be able to eat dairy; someone else may not.
Why Tracking Can Be So Helpful
Tracking your habits and food is super important because if someone asked me what I had last Friday for lunch, I probably wouldn’t be able to answer them, let alone how I felt after I ate.
That’s where a food diary can be helpful. It allows you to compare what you’re eating with symptoms or changes you notice. Tracking your bowel habits can also provide additional information about digestive patterns. You can also pay attention to sleep, stress, energy, hydration, and other lifestyle factors.
You don’t have to track everything forever, but you do need to do it long enough to gather information that allows you to make changes. The more you understand your own patterns, the easier it is to make a decision based on your own experience.
Is a 30-Day Gut Reset Right for You?
A structured reset may be helpful if you’re ready to take a closer look at your food and lifestyle habits and want some direction rather than trying random gut-health tips you heard on social media, especially if you are thinking you need to eat better and don’t know where to start.
It’s four steps: Remove & Reset → Replace & Nourish → Restore & Strengthen → Rebalance & Sustain
You’ll have a four-week meal plan, shopping lists and recipes, assessments and trackers, food and lifestyle resources, weekly emails, worksheets, and support to help you work through the process.
Ready to Give Your Gut a Fresh Start?
You don’t need another extreme diet.
You need a practical starting point that helps you understand your habits, pay attention to your body, and begin making changes you can actually maintain.
